We recommend large cubed chunky salt, and do not recommend any kind of granular salt as it may solidify and plug up your system. We carry cubed salt that contains resin clean and it is better processed than other salts on the market and it will run cleaner in your water softener system. We have a water specialist that can come out to your home and test your water for PH, IRON, Total Dissolved solids and Hardness. Yes, we recommend covering your Kinetico whole house water system to protect it from the sun.
You should call our service department and get on our schedule for our service technicians to look at your system, that generally means there is something wrong with it.
It is technically possible to connect your Kinetico K5 Drinking Water System to your main kitchen faucet, however, once you do that and you run water like for washing dishes, you may deplete the water stored in the storage tank, and once that has occurred, you will be left with only the RO system’s production rate – which is a trickle (2-4 gallons per hour).
