How to Maintain Kinetico Commercial Water Systems

Kinetico whole house reverse osmosis systems are designed for a long life and require little regular maintenance although all systems will benefit from a visual inspection every year. The supplied user instructions will tell you when filters need to be changed and any other tasks that are necessary.

One of the biggest tasks may be to clean a water softener’s brine tank to prevent a build-up of minerals in it. To do this:

1. Shut off the water softener.
2. Drain all water from the brine tank.
3. Remove the water softener salt, including any salt bridges that have formed, and dispose of it.
4. Clean the brine tank with a long-handled brush using a soapy, warm water solution.
5. Rinse out the brine tank with clean water.
6. Sanitize the brine tank using bleach dissolved in water, scrubbing all the surfaces with the mixture.
7. Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water then dry it.
8. Refill the brine tank with salt then restart.

You should periodically check salt levels while water softeners require the filters to be changed at prescribed intervals. Some of the care and maintenance are relatively easy to do and you can no doubt manage them yourself while certain aspects are more complicated.
